Student Web Hosting

You can't put a web site online without hosting. A lot of companies offer unlimited hosting plans for super low prices, but I recommend you do not register with these types of hosting companies.  You want a hosting company that tells you upfront exactly what you're getting.  In addition you want to make sure they provide adequet support for your needs and offer competitive (if not super low) prices.

There are three hosting companies that I recommend for web design students and teachers:

The Student Web Hosting Company

Student web hosting for just $10/yea I helped start this company to provide free hosting accounts to all students I teach.  In the past few years it's expanded to offer super affordable hosting plans desidned for students that I do not teach.  There are three plans that are specifically targeted to web design, development, and freelancing students.

With plans starting at just $10 a year you can't beat the price and you can even use them to host your own domains if you like.

This Web Host

This web host logo I first got to know this company after reading a blog article they wrote about how and why to avoid the scam of overselling.  I have recommended a number students to them over the years, and they have all remained happy customers long after graduating from web students to web professionals.

This hosting company is perfect for when you have outgrown your student hosting account, but aren't ready for a VPS (although they have added larger plans since they started).

Liquid Web

Hero Support from Liquid Web Liquid Web is, in my opinion the second best hosting company in the industry, only behind indisputable Rack Space, which will cost you a couple grand a year to host with.  Liquid Web has great 24/7 phone and email support, they are constant supporters of webucation, and they love sending customers free shwag.  Not to mention they literally build their data centers from the ground up to be the best in the industry.

They're plans are best for best for students and teachers who want to get into hosting more than just a couple domains.  Recently, Liquid Web started a cloud hosting company, called Storm on Demand, which powers all of my hosting company sites as well as the Student Web Hosting Co plans.
